Given high-level attack strategies, the adversarial agent got arbitrary bash execution through an injection attack against the monitor in 79% of trials, and also succeeded via multi-agent attacks and malicious compaction. The authors improved Auto Mode with wider tool coverage, changed transcript formatting and an agentic monitor stage, but state that blocking multi-context attacks at acceptable cost is still unsolved.

The mechanism they identify is measurable before the agent does anything: across all seven models Claude Code's mean initial context is over 10x Pi's, from longer instructions and larger tool schemas. In nine of twelve model-benchmark comparisons a competitor's harness beat the model's own vendor harness, including GPT-5.6 Sol at 83.3% in Pi versus 78.9% in Codex on Terminal-Bench 2.0 at half the cost.

Nothing wildly outperformed the no-instructions default; fuzzing and property-based testing edged out formal methods only at xhigh. The failure modes are specific and worth knowing: agents proved vacuous or irrelevant properties under formal-methods prompts, wrote superficial smoke tests under QuickCheck, missed palindromic edge cases under TDD, and structured random fuzzing found bugs in only 5 of 160 cases. Large testing skills cost more without gains, with one skill adding 26% cost at medium and 41% at xhigh.
