Musk v. Altman Trial: Jury Unanimously Dismisses All Claims on Statute of Limitations — $150B Potential Damages Voided
A nine-member advisory jury in Oakland took less than two hours to unanimously rule that Elon Musk waited too long to sue OpenAI, Sam Altman, and Greg Brockman, finding all claims barred by a three-year statute of limitations. Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers agreed and tossed the case, voiding potential damages of up to $150 billion that could have forced OpenAI and Microsoft to disgorge funds into the nonprofit foundation. Musk called the verdict a 'calendar technicality' and vowed to appeal to the 9th Circuit.
