Alibaba Unveils Zhenwu M890 AI Chip — 3x Predecessor Performance, Native FP4, Domestic NVIDIA Alternative

Alibaba's T-Head semiconductor subsidiary introduced the Zhenwu M890 AI training and inference processor at the Cloud Summit, featuring high-capacity memory, robust inter-chip bandwidth, and native FP4 precision support at 3x the performance of its predecessor Zhenwu 810E. The chip powers the new Panjiu AL128 Supernode Server, which packs 128 AI accelerators in a single rack at PB/s-scale bandwidth. This is Alibaba's most direct move yet to provide a domestic alternative to NVIDIA's data-center GPUs amid ongoing export controls.
