Microsoft Azure Agent Mesh: Distributed Agent Fabric Across Windows Devices, Cloud PCs, and Edge
Microsoft announced Azure Agent Mesh at Build 2026 — a control plane that federates agent execution across on-premises Windows servers, Windows 365 Cloud PCs, and Azure Arc-enabled edge devices using the same local APIs. The mesh automatically routes agent tasks to the nearest node based on latency and GPU availability, effectively turning Microsoft's global Windows 365 footprint into a distributed agent compute fabric. Also announced: WSL 3 re-architecture with paravirtualized GPU/NPU access for AI workloads.
