Connecticut Governor Signs AI Employment Law — Employers Must Disclose AI Use in Hiring and Report AI-Driven Layoffs
Governor Lamont signed bipartisan legislation on May 29 requiring employers to disclose use of 'automated employment-related decision technology' to employees and applicants when it is a substantial factor in employment decisions. Starting October 1, 2026, any employer filing WARN Act notices must disclose whether layoffs are AI-related to the Connecticut Department of Labor. Violations are treated as unfair or deceptive trade practices enforceable by the attorney general, making Connecticut one of the first states with AI-specific workforce protections.
