ACP — an open protocol letting any compatible agent run inside any compatible editor — has been adopted by JetBrains, Google, GitHub, Zed, and 25+ agents as of June 2026. Devin Desktop launched on it supporting Codex, Claude Agent, and OpenCode, decoupling the agent from the editor and signaling a shift toward portable, swappable agent backends.
