Xcode 27, in developer beta June 8, introduces a dual-engine agentic coding system: a local Neural Engine model for real-time Swift suggestions plus a cloud routing layer that hands heavier analysis to Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, or OpenAI agents. The agent can simulate entire apps, write and run tests, inspect visual changes via live previews, and drive the iOS Simulator through a new Device Hub. Apple also unveiled a separate Core AI framework that lets developers run third-party models locally on Apple Silicon — positioning the Mac as a first-class local-inference target for agentic dev tools.
