OpenAI Codex Brings Computer Use to Windows and Makes Goal Mode Generally Available
Per OpenAI's Codex changelog, Computer Use now operates Windows desktop apps by seeing, clicking, and typing in the foreground (also macOS; excluded in EEA/UK/Switzerland at launch), with remote steering from iOS/Android or a Mac. 'Goal mode' — define an outcome and success criteria and let Codex iterate toward it — went generally available across the app, IDE extension, and CLI. Together they push Codex further from a coding assistant toward an autonomous desktop agent for testing and bug-hunting.
