Flow Matching as a Shortcut Past the Transient to Steady-State Turbulence
An arXiv paper (2607.13022, ~July 15) applies flow matching to jump nonlinear physical systems directly to statistically steady-state turbulence, skipping the expensive initial transient phase where perturbations grow before saturating. The transferable idea for ML practitioners is using a generative flow-matching map to bypass long simulation warm-up rather than as a sample generator. Application is niche (plasma/physics), so general-practitioner importance is low.
