GitHub Copilot Coding Agent for Jira Enters Public Preview — AGENTS.md Auto-Generation Included

GitHub announced on March 5 that the Copilot coding agent for Jira is in public preview, enabling users to assign Jira issues directly to the agent which produces draft PRs in the connected GitHub repo. Agent hooks shipped simultaneously for JetBrains IDEs, enabling custom lifecycle commands at defined points for policy enforcement. Support for AGENTS.md and CLAUDE.md instruction files was added with auto-generation of an initial AGENTS.md — a first-party signal that AGENTS.md is becoming the cross-IDE standard.
