Tesla Terafab AI Chip Foundry Launches March 21 — 100–200B Chips/Year at 2nm, $25B Project

Elon Musk announced on March 14 that Tesla's Terafab chip fabrication facility launches in seven days. The $25B project targets 100–200 billion custom AI chips per year at 2nm — ~70% of TSMC's current total output from a single US facility. First product is Tesla AI5 for FSD, Dojo, and Optimus; xAI Grok infrastructure is also a beneficiary. This would make Tesla one of only a handful of entities capable of producing frontier AI silicon in-house at volume.
