Nevada Clears Up to 8,000 Robotaxis for Tesla, Waymo and Uber in Clark County

The Nevada Transportation Authority unanimously approved three commercial robotaxi permits on Thursday covering Clark County: Tesla up to 5,000 vehicles, Waymo up to 1,000, and Uber up to 1,000 operating through Motional and Zoox. The 5,000 figure reverses an Electrek-reported cap of 10 vehicles from August 17. Tesla's Cybercab chief engineer publicly called 5,000 "always a ceiling for us" and said 2,500 within a year would satisfy him, so the permitted number and the deployed number will diverge sharply.
