As of March 11, 2026, GitHub Copilot for JetBrains IDEs ships agent hooks (public preview) — userPromptSubmitted, preToolUse, postToolUse, and errorOccurred events configured via .github/hooks/hooks.json — mirroring Claude Code's hook architecture. MCP tool-level auto-approve is now configurable under Settings > GitHub Copilot > Chat, and the update adds native AGENTS.md and CLAUDE.md instruction file support with a /memory slash command shortcut. This brings JetBrains to near-parity with VS Code for agentic workflows.
