ctrlb-decompose Sells Log Preprocessing as a Cost Layer: Strip the Noise Before the Observability Vendor's LLM Sees It
The ctrlb-decompose repo, surfaced on Show HN September 9 at 297 stars and MIT-licensed (created 2026-04-06), builds an "LLM-ready reasoning surface over logs" by decomposing and stripping noise before logs are sent to a model. It is aimed at the same job Datadog, New Relic and Splunk now bill for as an AI feature, but positioned as a preprocessing step the customer owns. This is the third variation this month of the same shape: put a free layer between your data and the vendor's metered AI so the vendor's token count, not your log volume, becomes the thing you control.
