CROSS-CATEGORY: Identity Checks for Agents and Humans Tightened in Payments, AI Platforms and ID Verification on One Day
On September 10 Visa, Mastercard and Ant International announced a Know-Your-Agent interoperability framework built on Visa's Trusted Agent Protocol, Mastercard Verifiable Intent and Ant's Agentic Mobile Protocol, covering operator traceability, shared certification and continuous monitoring. The same day Anthropic's threat report said it now requires identity verification for users from unsupported countries after state-linked agent-swarm campaigns. Also that day, ID verification vendor IDScan confirmed that more than 150 million US and Canadian driver's license records were stolen from its cloud systems over about a year. The demand for verified identity is growing at the same moment the vendors that store identity documents are proving to be the weak point.
