DeepSeek Reverses the V4 Pro Retirement Hours Before It Was Due, Keeping the Model and Its Pricing
DeepSeek had announced that from 04:00 UTC on September 14 every deepseek-v4-pro request would be answered by V4.1-Flash at Flash rates. The API changelog now carries the reversal verbatim: "In response to user demand, we have decided to continue providing API services for DeepSeek V4 Pro after September 14, 2026, with the billing method remaining unchanged." V4 Flash and V4 Flash Vision Exp are still retired, with those model names temporarily aliased to V4.1 Flash, so anyone who rewrote their model strings for the September 14 cutover should check which of the two changes actually applied to them.
