Right to Intelligence launched as a state-level phone campaign against licensing requirements for running local models
righttointelligence.org hit r/LocalLLaMA at 472 upvotes with a narrow ask: people should be free to download, own, run, study, modify and share open AI models, while fraud, cybercrime, CSAM, harassment, nonconsensual deepfakes and sabotage stay illegal and enforced. Its stated red line is "requiring a license just to own or run the tool." The site's live counters read 1,421 US signatures, 111 calls logged and 50 states active, and the mechanism is a per-state call script rather than a signature list. This is separate from July's Open Weights and American AI Leadership letter, which had 270+ organizational signatories.
