A hobbyist put a simulated fly brain in front of PCSX2, gave it a small PlayStation controller mapping and hooked its dopamine readout up as feedback, and reports it can play arbitrary PS2 games while he builds toward a general-purpose trainer. 199 upvotes and 64 comments on r/singularity. The author is upfront that it has no practical value and he is doing it to learn spiking neural networks, which is roughly the point: connectome-driven control loops are now cheap enough to be a weekend project.
