Emerald AI, Google and NVIDIA found an alliance for data centers that throttle to grid conditions
NVIDIA announced the AI Energy Management Alliance on 16 September, founded with Emerald AI and Google and joined by launch partners spanning AI platforms, infrastructure providers, data center operators, power producers, utilities and regional grid operators. The alliance targets data centers that dynamically manage electricity use by shifting workloads, discharging storage, using paired generation and responding to system contingencies, and it commits to technology-neutral, performance-based standards for technical requirements and metrics rather than mandating hardware. TechCrunch's same-day coverage adds Anthropic to the backers of Emerald AI. No capacity or grid figures were cited, which is the main weakness, this is a standards body announcement rather than deployed demand response.
