Giving Candidates Their Own Screening Agent Raised Borderline Pass Rates From 4.5% to 26.2%
arXiv 2609.19530 (17 Sep 2026) replaces one-call resume screening with a two-agent exchange where employer-side and candidate-side agents trade evidence before deciding. On 600 constructed resume-job pairs, advance rates rose from 33.3% to 39.3% with GPT-5.5 and 34.0% to 35.5% with Claude Opus 4.7, but on the 191-pair borderline pool the effect was far larger, 4.5% to 26.2% and 6.5% to 16.1% across three runs. It is not a uniform loosening: two-agent screening also rejected applications that the one-call version advanced, and no single-call threshold reproduced its selections, though two-agent-only picks recurred less consistently across fresh runs.
