Skillsync Launches txcript, an Open-Source Rust Engine That Transcodes Agent Sessions Between Harnesses
Skillsync (YC W26) did a Launch HN on September 17. The interesting piece is not the desktop app but txcript, an open-source Rust engine the founders describe as ffmpeg or pandoc for agent sessions, translating conversation history, reasoning chains and tool calls between Claude, Codex and Cursor formats. Sessions stay local, skills and memory are stored as portable markdown exposed over MCP, and it supports cross-machine work over SSH. Founders Nars and Nishant previously built an open-source payment orchestrator with 30k+ GitHub stars on an anti-lock-in premise. The sharpest comment redirected them: analyzing sessions across harnesses may be worth more than moving them.
