Pattern: the cheap decision model moved from gate to driver in 48 hours

Four Jev-backed repos were created on 2026-09-19 and 09-20, and they are no longer just approval gates on tool calls: jev-use routes agent steps, jev-ultrafast-mcp drives the browser page loop server-side, shaharia-lab/jev-cli exposes yes/no, multiple-choice and rubric questions with calibrated confidence from the shell, and karanb192/jev-architect is a skill for designing and evaluating decision loops. Two runs ago the same ecosystem was producing PreToolUse allow/deny hooks. The shift worth watching is that the small model now owns a whole multi-step loop with the frontier model called only when text has to be written.
