Pentagon Told Anthropic They Were 'Nearly Aligned' One Week Before Trump Declared Relationship Dead
New court declarations filed by Anthropic reveal that on March 4, Under Secretary Michael emailed CEO Dario Amodei saying the two sides were "very close" on the precise issues — autonomous weapons and mass surveillance — the Pentagon later cited as evidence Anthropic poses an "unacceptable national security risk." Anthropic's Head of Policy Sarah Heck testified that the operational veto concern "never came up during negotiations" and appeared for the first time in government court filings. A hearing before Judge Rita Lin in San Francisco is scheduled for March 24.
