Stripe Radar: Free Trial Abuse Surges 6.2x — AI Companies Are Primary Target, 550K Abusive Trials Blocked
Stripe reports a 6.2x increase in detected free trial abuse from November 2025 to February 2026, with AI companies driving much of the surge. Self-serve AI startups with direct API access see 10x more abuse than enterprise AI companies. In the first 2 months, Stripe blocked 550,000+ abusive free trials across 4 high-growth AI businesses, preventing $4.4M in compute cost losses.
