Reddit Requires Human Verification for Bot-Like Accounts: FaceID, Passkeys, and Considering World ID

Reddit CEO Steve Huffman announced accounts exhibiting bot-like behavior will be required to verify their humanity via on-device methods including FaceID and passkeys. The company is also considering Sam Altman's World ID face-scanning orb as a verification method. Accounts that fail will be restricted. This is not a sitewide mandate — it only triggers on accounts with automated posting patterns or other technical bot markers. Reddit will also begin labeling approved automated 'good bot' accounts similar to X.
