BMO, CME Group, and Google Cloud Launch 24/7 Tokenized Cash and Deposit Platform for Institutional Settlement
BMO became the first bank to join CME Group's tokenized cash platform on Google Cloud Universal Ledger (GCUL), enabling institutional clients to convert US dollars into tokenized deposits and tokenized cash 24/7 without traditional settlement cutoff constraints. The platform supports two instruments: tokenized cash for margined products at CME Group, and tokenized deposits for general-purpose B2B payments, treasury movements, and programmable cash. Expected second half 2026 pending regulatory approval. Signals major bank adoption of always-on programmable money infrastructure.
