MLB launched Scout Insights on Opening Night — an AI-powered commentary feature built on Google Gemini models and Google Cloud, live in the Gameday feed on the MLB App and MLB.com. The system parses hundreds of petabytes of historical Statcast data, cross-references it with real-time game scenarios, and delivers narrative insights at key moments each inning. Google Cloud engineers were embedded with MLB engineering for the first time in the six-season partnership. Insights are pre-generated based on daily lineups then matched to live game context to avoid latency on play-by-play delivery.
