Meta and Broadcom Extend MTIA Custom Silicon Partnership Through 2029 — World's First 2nm AI Chip
Meta and Broadcom announced on April 15 an extension of their MTIA chip partnership through 2029, committing to four generations of custom AI silicon (MTIA 300 through 500) released every six months. MTIA will be the world's first AI silicon on a 2nm process node. Deployment starts at 1 gigawatt and scales to multiple gigawatts by 2027. Meta is pursuing a dual strategy: custom ASICs for specific workloads alongside a $50-100B Nvidia deal spanning three GPU architectures.
