SpaceX Strikes $60B Acquisition Option for Cursor — Preempts $2B Fundraise, Planned Post-IPO Close
SpaceX secured an option to acquire Anysphere (Cursor) for $60 billion, with a $10 billion collaboration fee paid upfront. The deal preempted Cursor's $2B fundraise led by Thrive and a16z at a $50B valuation. SpaceX plans to close after its summer IPO, combining Cursor's agent-first coding IDE with SpaceX's Colossus supercluster. Cursor's 25-year-old CEO Michael Truell negotiated the deal directly with Musk.
