GitHub Copilot Training-ON Policy Takes Effect April 24 — Free/Pro/Pro+ Interaction Data Now Used for Model Training by Default

GitHub's controversial privacy policy change went live on April 24: all Copilot Free, Pro, and Pro+ users' interaction data (prompts, suggestions, code snippets, and context) is now used for AI model training unless explicitly opted out. Private repo content at rest is excluded, but interaction data generated while working in private repos is included. Enterprise and Education tiers are exempt. Data may be shared with Microsoft but not third-party model providers.
