And OpenAI updated Codex into a "SuperApp" with computer use, image generation, memory, and a plugin marketplace. The IDE market isn't consolidating. It's splintering into agent-first platforms, traditional editors with AI bolted on, and model-provider-native tools.

What builders should do: If you're paying per-token for coding agents, track your actual cost per merged PR (see story #4). If you're on Cursor 3, monitor your spend for the first week before going all-in. If you're on Claude Code, the 54% market share means Anthropic will keep investing here. The CLI isn't going away.
