SoFi Acquires AI Investing Startup Composer

SoFi acquired Composer, a Toronto-based startup that builds automated, strategy-driven investing software, per Finextra. Terms weren't disclosed.

Composer's software lets someone set investing rules and have it execute them, instead of picking each trade by hand. Folding that into SoFi's app brings automated money decisions into a mainstream banking product instead of a standalone startup tool.

Finextra's report doesn't say whether Composer keeps its own brand inside SoFi or whether its team and existing customers move over too.

It's part of a broader pattern: consumer platforms are racing to embed agentic money management directly into their apps. The typical move is to buy that capability instead of building it, and then ship it under a brand people already use.
