Samsung, SK Hynix, Micron sell out 2027 memory supply

Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron have sold out all 2027 DRAM and HBM production, per TweakTown. That leaves nothing for anyone planning a self-hosted AI rig. DRAM contract prices already jumped more than 50% quarter over quarter to get here, and there's no more DRAM or HBM allocation left to book.

A 32GB DDR5 kit that ran about $100 in September 2025 now costs over $400, a 4x jump.

None of the freed-up capacity is headed to consumer chips. It's going to HBM for datacenters instead.

The earliest credible normalization is late 2027, per the reports. That prices local-inference hardware plans out for close to two years, whether or not you're ready to build now.

The manufacturers made this bet before the shortage even peaked: they sold the 2027 supply that would have eased it. Nothing in the reporting suggests spot allocation opens early, so the 4x DDR5 price looks like the floor for a while.
