Claude Code Removes Its 200-Subagent Spawn Cap

Claude Code 2.1.224 removed its 200-subagent-per-session spawn cap on August 7, per the project's changelog.

For builders running multi-agent orchestration, that cap was a hard wall. Once a session spawned 200 subagents, it stopped. It didn't matter what the workflow still needed. That ceiling is gone, and unlike the release's other headline feature, it's gone for every account, not just Team and Enterprise plans.

The same release adds claude self-hosted-runner, which lets Team and Enterprise customers host web, mobile, and desktop sessions on their own machines or containers.

It also ships cross-session messaging: SendMessage and ListAgents let sessions running on any of your machines message each other, on macOS and Linux. The changelog doesn't say whether that feature carries the same Team or Enterprise gate as the self-hosted-runner.

The changelog ranks the spawn cap removal and a trailing-slash deny fix as the two changes that alter behavior, ahead of the self-hosted-runner feature.
