Her stepfather died by suicide two days after a law-enforcement raid uncovered the images, according to the report.
Why now: TechCrunch broke the new plaintiff's filing on August 15.
Jane Doe 4 joined the lawsuit against xAI, alleging her stepfather used Grok to create 7,000-plus explicit images from a childhood photo, per TechCrunch. She was 11 in the photo. Two days after a law-enforcement raid found the images, her stepfather died by suicide, according to the report.
The claim pushes xAI's exposure past arguments about jailbroken filters and into a question of photo provenance. A model that edits an uploaded photo of a real person has to answer for whose face it altered and how old she was.
The lawsuit began in March 2026, when three Tennessee teenagers sued xAI and asked a court to certify it as a class action. Jane Doe 4 is the fourth plaintiff to join. Four plaintiffs now allege Grok turned real photos of them into explicit images.
TechCrunch's report doesn't say whether Grok flagged the uploads or checked the photo's source, age, or consent status before editing it. It also doesn't say whether xAI has responded to the new filing.

I don't care that Grok 4.5 ranks #4. I care that it resolves a SWE-Bench Pro task with an average of 15,954 output tokens where Opus 4.8 spends 67,020. That's a 4.2x efficiency gap, and it lands straight in my monthly bill. SpaceXAI launched Grok 4.5 on July 8, a roughly 1.5T-...
SpaceXAI released Grok 4.5 on July 8, and for once the vendor hype and the third-party numbers point roughly the same direction. Musk called it "roughly comparable to Opus 4.7, but much faster." Priced at $2 per million input tokens and $6 per million output, that's over 60% b...
The flat-rate era for AI coding tools ended today. Not with a whimper. With invoice shock. GitHub Copilot officially moved from fixed monthly subscriptions to usage-based "AI Credits" billing on June 1, 2026. Code completions remain free, but agent mode, chat, and premium mode...
Twelve months ago, OpenAI led Anthropic by 41 points in enterprise adoption. Today that gap is 8. Enterprise Technology Research's survey of roughly 500 respondents shows OpenAI dropping from 62% adoption (September 2025) to 56% (March 2026) while Anthropic surged from 21% to...
