Vercel replaces CDN overage fees with flat monthly tiers

Vercel killed usage-based CDN billing and moved to four flat monthly tiers, the company said in Vercel's flat-rate CDN pricing post. For Pro teams, the stakes are concrete. One million requests and 1TB of transfer come included, and cost beyond that is now fixed instead of metered.

Past the included tier, $20 a month buys 10 million requests and 50TB of transfer. $100 buys 50 million requests at the same 50TB cap, and $300 buys 150 million requests with 50TB included.

Teams that sustain traffic past a tier's limit move to the Flex CDN tier at the next billing cycle, not mid-month. That timing means a spike doesn't trigger a surprise invoice while it's happening.

Free auth on every plan

Vercel Authentication is now free on every plan, including production domains. It used to require Advanced Deployment Protection at $150 a month to use on live sites.

Watch whether Vercel enforces the Flex CDN move-over cleanly for accounts that spike once and drop back down. The post doesn't say what happens if usage retreats within a billing cycle.
