For developers building agents on Gemini, that's the failure mode that matters: a model that reasons but can't chain tool calls is unusable in production. Google is betting the delay is worth it, reportedly targeting a 2-million-token context window and pricing near $1.25 per million input tokens for the rebuild.

The rebuilt model targets a July 17 release and adds a reasoning mode called Deep Think, per TechTimes.

None of the specs come from Google directly. TechTimes' own headline flags the context window, pricing, and release date as unconfirmed.

I'd bet the spec sheet doesn't survive launch. Pricing and context window figures are usually the first things a lab revises after a public teardown, and I'm watching both closely. If Gemini 3.5 Pro ships July 17 with both numbers unchanged, that says more about Google's execution than the numbers themselves.
